GNU Free Documentation License Is the ability to concentrate for hours on end linked to intelligence? Q. People talk about autistic peole being able to concentrate for hours on end, and this being the reason for them being able to excel to much in maths/whatever they're interested in. Is this an indication that they're more intelligent. Is the ability to focus on something for ages linked to intelligence? Asked by Laura... - Sun Apr 19 20:57:13 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. No, there is no link between powers of concentration and intelligence, though obviously those who can concentrate more will probably absorb more information in the short term. That doesn't necessarily mean that they will be able to recall that information at a later date and use it effectively, which is an important part of intelligence. In fact, intelligent people often find it very hard to concentrate because their mind is always working and wandering off in different directions. Also, they are prone to getting bored with a topic quickly which will affect their ability to concentrate. Answered by Uxorious - Thu Apr 23 11:55:35 2009 How would your ability to measure the distances to stars be different from the vantage point of Jupiter? Q. Suppose you could travel to Jupiter and observe changes in positions of nearby stars during one orbit of Jupiter around the Sun. Describe how those changes would be different from what we measure from Earth. How would your ability to measure the distances to stars be different from the vantage point of Jupiter? Asked by lilred309012004 - Fri Nov 13 17:42:25 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The radius of Jupiter's orbit is about 5 times that of the Earth's. Hence a given star would show a parallax five times larger. As the parallax is proportional to 1/distance, it would mean that we would be able to measure parallaxes of stars that are further away. Q. I think it may be mesmerism or animal magnetism, but it's a little more descriptive than that. It's when someone possesses the ability to control the senses of other people. I.E. make them see, hear, feel things they aren't actually experiencing. I'm not sure of the right term to describe the ability or the person who has the ability.
